Picking the right New Year resolution isn't always that easy. It helps to have a resolution in mind that you're passionate about, something that 'nag's at you that you really want to change or achieve, or a treasured dream that's been on your list for a long long time. Over the years, I've achieved many of my goals, resolutions and dreams - not all - but enough to feel good about myself and proud of my achievements. In the past couple of years, I've been wondering 'what next'? Opening my mind has helped me to begin plotting my next course.
Taking the first of my five steps toward building a 'Resolution Roadmap': Dare To Dream. With that in mind, I asked myself the question: If I won the lottery, or if I had all the time and money I would ever need to do whatever I wanted for the rest of my life, what would I do? There was only one answer, and I didn't have to think very long or hard about it. I would write books and do photography. Since I was just a kid, I've done both (writing and photography, still working on selling that book). Now, I sense it's time to live my dream to write and sell books, and 'do my photography' in whatever direction it takes me. Selling my home in Washington, DC, and moving out to the country in Virginia was the precursor for all of this. It was time to shake things up, clear my head, build a healthier, less stressed lifestyle. It was time to do a lot of things.
At the end of the day, all of this is the true purpose for this blog. Yes coming here everyday is helping me to stay on track with my resolution to exercise for at least 30 minutes each day. But there's a larger purpose - to launch some bigger dreams. No better time than the present. 'Better get to it'.
