Better late than never. President Bush, today, finally took responsibility for government failures in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Keep in mind the Hurricane blasted through Louisiana and the Gulf States two weeks ago and he has received intense criticism from the media, Americans and some members of his own party - not to mention the fact that his poll numbers continue to plummet.
"Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government," Bush said at a joint White House news conference with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani. "To the extent the federal government didn't do its job right, I take responsibility."
Now let's hope that Mr. Bush does the right thing and investigates the horrible government failures and makes the necessary changes in the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) before another catastrophe occurs and more lives are lost.
Keep in mind Hurricane Ophelia is bearing down on the Carolina Coast, at this writing, and hurricane season doesn't end for another 2 1/2 months. Sobering isn't it?

Bush,Gop have played American public for suckers.
It's time to face facts. If you voted for Bush in the last election because you believed that he understood you better, shared your values or had deep moral convictions, you were conned.
Bush doesn't really care about you, or people like you. Bush couldn't even leave his 30 day vacation until a whole day after the worst disaster in US history had struck. The day after he first surveyed the death and destruction, he went and played golf. What kind of moral leader could look at the sinking of an entire city, while he was president, and the next day play golf?.
This is the can't do, won't do government. It's been four years, and they haven't even caught the man who actually masterminded the murder of 4000 Americans..Osama bin Laden!. Does Bush care?. Gas is more than $3 a gallon, fewer and fewer people have health insurance, thousands drowned needlessly in New Orleans..and all the people who run this government do is blame, blame, blame someone else for their failure, or say it's impossible. Nothing's ever their fault.
You have been played for a sucker. Bush and the Republicans are destroying the very infrastructure that made America the greatest country in the world after World WarII.If you keep voting them in, by the time your children are grown, America may be a third-rate, has been country, with polluted air and water, drowning in personal and national debt. At least your children will know who to blame...You!!
