Happy Holidays dear friends! I know I've been away from my blogs of late, but had to take a break this fall. Waaaayy too much going on, so I replaced some things on my 'Things To Do List' with naps and 'veg time'. It paid off. I'm raring to go in 2007. It goes without saying that I'm looking forward to the New Year with hope and optimism. I love the holidays, particularly January 1 - I think of that day as a new beginning of sorts. A blank slate on which to write my story for the year. Lots to look forward to.
I'm especially pleased by the outcome of the 2006 election. The Democrats' victory in the House and Senate will help to restore some balance in our government. I'm not going to get up on my soapbox tonight. I expressed my opinions about the failed Republican Rule in Congress in October (here on my blog). It's up to the Democrats to perform now - so many pressing issues, and not a minute to waste. I was happy to see that the Democrats are planning a full work week - the Republicans were down to a couple days of week (which was fine with me, as I was happy that they weren't passing horrible legislation). It's a new day and I have hope that the Democrats will do a good job.
I had a wonderful stroke of good fortune in October. In an effort to get out and have some fun, I
took a friend to a Joan Jett Concert at the 930 Club in D.C. We ran into some political colleagues who know Joan - they invited us to go back stage to meet her and watch the concert from that vantage point. What fun. I was thrilled to meet her, as I enjoy her music and admire the trail blazing role she's played for women in 'rock n roll'. She was as nice and down-to-earth as I expected she would be. The evening was a definite gift!
I've really missed my blogs and am happy to be back tonight! Alas it's getting late, so I better get off here. Sheet time. Better 'get to it'.
